Bail Bonding & FAQ's

WHAT IS A BOND?

The purpose of a bail bond is to guarantee to the court that the person being released on the bail bond will make all of their required court appearances. It is a financial guarantee to the court that the defendant will appear on each and every court appearance. Failure of the defendant to comply with the court appearances could result in warrants being issued and the bail bonds being forfeited.

What is Collateral: Collateral is money, property, etc., that you deposit with the bail bond company. The collateral is held until the bond is exonerated and the premium has been paid in full.

In the majority of situations, we do not require collateral

Factors that may determine if collateral will be required:

  • Accused person’s past arrest history
  • Whether or not accused person is local
  • If indemnitor is employed
  • Accused person’s past bond history

WHY CALL A BAIL BOND AGENT?

Most fees that are requested to post bond are higher than the defendants and their families are financially able to afford. This is where Action Bail Bonds can help! An agent can acquire the funds and necessary documents for you. A non-refundable fee of 10 to 20 percent of the amount of the bail is all that is requested from most of our customers.

Before agreeing to post bail, Action Bail Bonds can require a few items of collateral from the defendant. This is just to ensure the risk of posting bail. Unfortunately a defendant that appears to be a "poor risk," and unlikely to return to court for trial, can be refused bail.
